Jimmy Cornell – London Blue Odyssey Seminar

DSC00587A true eye opener to long distance blue water cruising – Williams & Smithells Mark Ellyatt and Jonty Stubbs took part in the 2 day seminar hosted by the Cruising Association, flying the flag for Allures & Garcia Yachting.

The experience covered almost all aspects of Blue Water Cruising from safety at sea to Weather patterns and essential equipment.

DSC00582Speakers included Mike Broughton on Weather, Thomas Wibberenz on downwind sails, Dr Nick Carter on safety at sea, Adrian & Jacqui Evans (also know for their Sling the Hook blog) on long distance mono-hull sailing Pascal Guiraudou on Long distance multi hull sailing and of course Jimmy Cornell himself.

Jimmy Cornell who will soon be taking delivery of his latest vessel the Garcia Exploration 45 a truly versatile blue water cruiser built to take on all weather conditions and allow access to the tightest and most remote areas of the Globe5

He intends to put his new yacht to the test by conquering the infamous North West Passage known for mercilessly freezing over and forcing those who embark on the passage to either wait it out or abandon their yacht until the icy waters release their grip.
